AGNES B. ARANAS-SARCAOGA (aas@fmh.ph) received her Juris Doctor degree from Centro Escolar University in 2015, graduating cum laude and salutatorian. She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2016. She graduated cum laude from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan in 2006 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and passed the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination in October 2006. Being also an accountant, Ms. Aranas-Sarcaoga focuses her law practice on tax and corporate/commercial matters and litigation.
For more than 10 years and prior to joining the firm, she worked as a tax accountant in a multinational corporation preparing financial statements and business tax returns and ensuring overall compliance of the company with tax laws and regulations.
Ms. Aranas-Sarcaoga assists multinational and local clients of the firm in corporate tax planning and structuring and in their applications for tax rulings with the Bureau of Internal Revenue. She handles tax litigation cases involving administrative and judicial protests of deficiency assessments for local and internal revenue taxes as well as administrative and judicial claims for tax refunds or the issuance of tax credit certificates. She has substantial experience in due diligence work for mergers and acquisitions with particular focus on tax risks and liabilities. She also assists clients in contract drafting and review of commercial contracts and handles corporate secretarial work and housekeeping.
