GELINA ROSE E. RECIO-ARUGAY (ger@fmh.ph) obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines in 2013 and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2014. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature, Major in European Literature.
Ms. Recio-Arugay is part of the Corporate, Taxation, Data Privacy Consulting, Commercial & Finance, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) practice groups of the firm. She renders tax planning and advisory services and has extensive experience in tax litigation, having handled administrative and judicial protests of deficiency assessments for local and internal revenue taxes, as well as administrative and judicial claims for tax refunds or the issuance of tax credit certificates. She likewise handles contract drafting and review, corporate secretarial work, corporate advisory and compliance, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, general corporate practice, and various special projects involving the critical evaluation of PPPs. Ms. Recio-Arugay also handles data privacy consulting engagements and has been qualified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) in the Philippines
Ms. Recio-Arugay has attended various corporate governance and data privacy seminars, including the “Enhancing Audit Committee Effectiveness – Essentials Program” administered by the Philippine Institute of Corporate Directors and the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) Program administered by Straits Interactive Philippines. She is also acknowledged as a local partner and contributor for International Banking Law and Regulation, a yearly international publication of the Center for International Legal Studies in Salzburg, Austria.
